Tuesday’s Monday

Today is the first day of class for me. I had intended on going home and running before class, but I have to go to school first and have monies transferred to my R-card. Then I need to go to Whole Foods for…well…food! David and I watched Supersize Me last night, and by the end I was disgusted with both myself and the food industry. I will stick to my organic kick, and we will go veggie. No more meat. No more processed-to-hell meals. It’s going to make things a little more difficult on me since I do all of the cooking, but I figure we will get healthier and lose some weight in the long run. Neither one of us really enjoy meat all that much to begin with, so this isn’t much of a loss.

Tofu rocks.

We took the doggies back to the dog park again. It’s amazing how defensive Pip can get when someone is pestering him. But we had a good time.

This weekend we are planning another ride on the West Orange Trail - and more trips to the dog park. We have also instituted a strict budget so that we may move when we want to. I feel good about this. New year, lots of changes. I don’t miss smoking. I don’t miss drinking (although I did have one rum and coke and it made me sleepy on Saturday). I feel better and more stable now.

There’s something to be said for moving your ass.
On that note - it’s work time!

You know I don’t agree with removing meat from your diet, but if it motivates you to be healthy then more power to you. I just want to say there are free range meats out there that are organically raised and what not. Anyway, good luck with this. It is a crazy adventure that i know i could never take so you’re a tougher group of people then me :)

I know there is free-range meat out there. But I guess what I didn’t really convey is that I’m not all that fond of meat to begin with. David and I had a looooong discussion about this last night. I don’t think either one of us will miss it all that much. But the actual meat is oftentimes not the issue. It’s the byproducts used in other things like confectioner’s sugar and soups. What you don’t know you are eating can harm you. I know this seems slightly alarmist, but sometimes drastic measures are needed.

Also, I like animals. It seems hypocritical to eat them. But man, I’ll kill a tater if you put it in front of me!

To me the meat thing is more about morality. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some burgers, but I don’t know how much longer I can in good conscious continue to eat animals when I look into my own animals eyes and see the spark of life and intelligence. In the back of my head, a little voice reminds me that the same spark is there in cows and pigs. It will definitely be a tough battle for me, but perhaps its time I followed some of my beliefs rather than taking the easy way out.

I promise that the harder way will involve lots of taters. You are, after all, the Potato King - not the Cow King…

As long as you still get your protein you should be all right though I would suggest a little bit of meat protein (like tuna or something) every now and then just to keep you healthy.

I hope school is good tonight.

I will be in my room playing Animal Crossing :)

I don’t like tuna! Fishies scare me and the only way I like to eat them is when they are in cracker form.

I will get sufficent protien from my soy sources. Remember, I was a veggie before. I am just stepping back into my old ways.
And I will eat more leafy greens so I get my vitamins and I can stay regular… tee hee hee

Your health is my concern and if you were veggie before then you should know what it takes to stay healthy. I don’t want an unhealthy D and E on my hands is all :)

  8. Meow Says:

Thank you for your concern. I promise we will remain healthy, fully of rage against the constructive nature of our society with energy to take on both a bike trail and a pack of hounds…

  9. Cat Says:

Congrats to both of you! I commend what you guys are doing.

E, have a wonderful night at school!

    Thank you love :)
