Water in your shoes

David and I noticed that Puck started to put on weight again. I haven’t run with the dogs since the accident, at first allowing my hip to heal, and then trying to find the time while sharing a car with David. It’s all about making the time, and I did so this morning. I dragged the beagle brigade out into the cool morning air and we got motivated for our run. All went well, with clean navigation of dark corners and steaming storm-drains. Yes, it all went well until the puddle. Luckily it was near the end of the run. When people allow their irrigation to run for extended amounts of time, the runoff forms shallow puddles in the streets. These dark, mirror pools hide unknown depths. We ran through two similar puddles earlier in the run so I thought nothing of running through the narrow elbow in the middle of the street near the church. But, as they say, still waters hide great depths. The cold water rushed through the fabric at the toe of my shoe. I thought “Self, that was a dumb thing to do.” And I walked the rest of the way home, my right foot swimming in wet sock and flooded shoe.
I have a firm case of the Mondays. Pip has this adorably annoying habit of lying right next to you when he sleeps. If you shift, he does too. Before you know it you end up parallel with the window, in some funky contortionist shape trying to find a comfy spot. Valentine wanted to sleep with me to, so I ended up feeling like a pretzel. That bed rocks, only as long as I sleep with a minimal number of animals.

But it’s just another manic Monday
At least you’ll get to see my smiling face this evening…let me know if you need a ride home…Oh and if the previous song is now in your head (hehe) sorry but at least I didn’t type my original thought (Monday, bloody Monday…Monday, bloody Monday…How long, how long must I sing this song…) Oh darn I did it anyway…You can kick me in the shins later…:)

If it makes you feel any better…I slip on the ice on campus at least once a day…It always happens when I am at my most confident stride…then all of a sudden I turn into a cartoon character…both feet almost off the ground, scrambling for traction. (I have not fallen yet this year…knock on wood) but I look like an ass on a consistent basis.

By the way…your book was ordered two weeks ago and it has not shipped…it is estimated to be delivered by March 2nd through March 16th…nothing like a precise time frame. It is the hardcover copy of course…so maybe that is causing some delay…(I have no idea how that is relevant, but it is Monday…so if I say it makes sense…then it does!)
