Good little girls

Anne’s birthday dinner last night was wonderful. Her mother is an amazing cook and I was pleased to find that Vegetarian was the norm for her house rather than the exception. I got lost in a discussion about cooking with Anne and her mother and think I will try out some of the recepie ideas that they offered. I don’t know much about the Seventh Day Adventists, but I like the non-meat eating thing. I would be interested to find out if this was a compassionate religious choice (governed by God) or motivated by some other rules of the religion. I shall research. Meanwhile…her enchiladas rivaled my own.

We got Anne a gift card. I hate giving gift cards because they seem so impersonal. But I wrapped it in a riot of pink and she seemed to be happy. The small dinner was just for family and a few friends. Will, her other half, set everything up. I was honored to be included in the intimate affair. When she was doing the introductions, she reffered to D and I as her family. I almost got all emotional. I think my eyes got a little watery. I have many friendships that flourish as my invisible foundation. Anne is a part of that. I know that we mean a lot to each other, and that really keeps me going. That, and she makes me laugh. Pink panties, anyone? I promised to wear pink for her birthday celebration on Saturday (because a girl can’t have just one party!). I am debating the level of pink I am willing to subject myself to.

I had a slight moment on Saturday and had to leave school. The cure for the shakes and nervousness was falling asleep on D’s chest as we cuddled on the couch. I think I drooled on his chest. I constantly fight with the dogs to get snuggle time with D (and I realise that statement is going to kill my rep as a badass). Pip is the worst one. We call him the “Chastity Beagle” for a reason. He loves to lay between D and I, and pushes me off to the side. If he wasn’t so cute, I would kill him.

It’s Monday. I’m hungry and need to go out to get my lunch. But all good girls get presents. And today, I shall give myself a new R-card since I lost mine again. I need to pay more attention to what I do with all my plastic.

Now my eyes are all watery. It meant the world to me to have you there. You both are my family. Let’s plan a night to cook some vegetarian food. I know several meals that may be yummy to you.

My whole family - just mom and whole dad’s side are SDA. My dad’s family are all evangelicals and are a traveling singing group. My mom is the last member on her side to still be SDA. I am not a member of the church anymore but as you saw last night, still respect her wishes not to drink in the house. Although she has an ash tray on the porch for the smokers.
