I’ve heard nasty things about Mel Gibson. Beyond the anti-semitism, he’s gone on violent tangents about gays (go ahead and guess what side he’s on) and he belongs to a bizzare sect of Catholicism that denies that the Holocaust existed. I would link to all of the crazy shit he’s said but that would be a long post. He’s nuts. And he’s mean. And he’s got very unkind beliefs.
I’m all about people being allowed to say what they want. It’s a free-speech thing. What I’m not keen on is the spewing of hateful language that targets one group or another. There was another star who shit-out-of-his-mouth things that offended me. Since Tom Cruise came out and said that mental illnesses are a result of a pseudo-science and that there is no need for medication, I’ve used the power of my teensy dollar to make my point. I will do the same with Mel Gibson. I will never go and see one of his films in the theatres. I probably won’t even rent one. His films really aren’t that good to begin with.
I understand that my little movie-going cash won’t make a big deal in the bottom line of Hollywood, but I would like to think it makes a statement against hatred, even if it sounds like a whisper.

I’ve been making similar conenctions between Tom Cruise and Mel to various people all week. They are both big time movie stars but their crazy is getting them in the news and it’s pissing off a lot of people. It’s very interesting that they’re both religious fanatics.

Fanaticism scares me, but especially the religious. It’s such an exclusionary way of thinking, and if you follow the teachings of any religion, they advocate peace and understanding. I often wonder where the perversion and disconnect comes from.

It is because they are mental and have only just recently disclosed to the public that and type of mental incapacity is a pseudo-sickness…
I truly believe that Tom Cruise is sick in the head… I dont know what Mel’s issue is, but I am a practicing Catholic and I about dropped my jaw when I read all that… He must be sick too… But I have also been boycotting big name movies. I do not watch anything that has Tom Cruise, Kelly Preston, John Travolta and the list goes on….
