My soft hair

I am listening to the gossiping and the backstabbing this morning. That kind of petty behavior does not go down well with my morning coffee. I just need to swallow beyond the lump in my throat. It’s all I can do.

I studied this weekend. For three-ish hours on Friday, people sat on my couches and we argued and laughed and tried to force one more bit of grammar into our memory. I shared my vodka cream sauce and pumpkin beer. Friday night clarified questions in my brain and solidified the specters wandering around my lack of confidence. Amanda and Dawn kept me laughing all night. D seemed at ease with most of the people at the house that night. It was a good time. Amanda and I got together on Sunday as well. We stayed at my house and talked through dangling modifiers and phrases and clauses. We are going to get together this afternoon. I am going to make this test my bitch. It’s all I can think about right now. I am obsessed.

Last night, after studying and working on work stuff (it was intrusive, but I had to make up time and get little busy-work done.) I put Recon on my hair.  I have a “thing” about my hair. I talk about it a lot. The growing process fascinates me. Strands of silver spring from the depths of my hair. I like this place. It’s nice, and I am growing more than my hair. But that’s as far as I will go with that.

I don’t like politicians and sales people that ring the doorbell. They tried to take away the quiet moments of my weekend, and I hate that.

I didn’t get to ride this weekend. There was too much to do and not enough time to do it in. I am hoping for more time this weekend. We have punkin parties and an anniversary. How nice.

I hope you have a nice Monday.

Where you guys ride, is it pretty flat? And two, is your bike a road bike? I’ve got to get a new one before too long – the one I have is seriously a hunk of junk.

We ride the West Orange Trail on the weekends, and then around our neighborhood during the week. We both have road bikes. D’s is VERY light. But we are both dedicated to road riding. We also both have Specialized bikes. We like the brand. I love them because they make bikes for women. They designed bike specifically for womens’ proportions.

Are they Terry’s bikes or whatever? I read that they make bikes for women who are shorter, like myself. Lighter is definitely key – no matter how fast I pedal, I can’t keep up to Ash. My bike is 50% heavier than his, and he’s not even using a road bike and, henceforth, slowing himself down. It’s becoming very frustarting not being able to keep up.

They start relatively cheap, but I went for a higher end version because we went for a cheapy bike and I over-rode that pretty rapidly. The specs for the bike are on the site. I can tell you from experience that they are pretty damn light, responsive and they work for shorter women (I’m 5’3″…although I like to pretend that I’m taller). As for keeping up, I don’t bother trying to anymore. D’s lightyears faster than I am. Now I ride for me. I chase who I can and D got me a little cyclo-computer (wh00t for technology) so I can track my speed and my miles. Alhough riding can be very social, it’s become a medatative process for me. I like where my head’s at when the wind rushes past my ears.

Those bikes look awesome but are a bit out of my price range. Going to a local shop this week to see what I can find; they also do trade-ins.

Check the ads @ the local bike shops. Orange Cycle sells used bikes sometimes, so I am going to assume other do as well.
