Storm shutters? What storm shutters?

Well we ran to Home Depot and bought a ladder….and in the attic there was…. 2 thin sheets of plywood. No storm shutters, just 2 sheets. At that point I asked myself “Why bother” and David came down from the hot attic empty handed. Fuck.

Nerves are starting to eat away at my stomach lining again and I am not watching the news on purpose. While there are a lot of houses boarded up now, there are many who are like us, without external protection for the windows. Maybe tape would make me feel better.

I had a brilliant idea - foam! A foam that hardens and after 2 days, erodes into some innocuous mess that is biodegradable and harmless to the enviornment. Too bad I’m not a chemistry person, I could work this shit out.

It looks like my neighbors have hit the road, and part of me thinks that is a good idea. But I can’t leave. I may get called into work earlier than Monday - so I am sticking with the house. Does anyone have any valium?

I hate hurricanes.

We ended up getting money (early bonus) and finding a place that had plywood. Tomorrow morning (9/4) we’ll board up and bunker down.

This thing, I believe, will be noisy and messy, but not a huge deal. It seems to have weakened and still be weakening. Worst case scenario is lost power.

We have a full propane tank, so we can boil water, cook food (cats if need be), and burn ants for fun.

Oh yeah, in our rush to get over to A’s cousin so I could learn how to f*g board up a house (I’m a computer guy, not a contractor), we saw a box turtle trying to climb up the median on Hiawassee. So we turn around, turn around again, and I grab him. Poor little guy’s leg was just dangling there. Must’ve gotten clipped in between top and bottom shell.

So now we have a little wounded box turtle resting in our garage. Sheesh.
