Weekends

I remember when I didn’t have the classic weekend, when I worked retail and was lucky to get one day off, much less 2 in a row. Why do they seem so quick now?
Julie and Matt came over with the best of intentions. Homework and dinner. But wine spilled into the mix and dinner lasted longer than it should have. Homework stayed inside while we smoked and chatted outside. Julie is a fantastic cook, and her chicken couscous is divine. That little one’s wizardry in the kitchen brought happy sighs to our starving bellies.
Today I almost brought home another feline. Black, eyes of burnished brass, he stared at me from the cage. But he didn’t seem to implore me to bring him home. He just sat there, still and stoic, staring. My heart aches for caged beauties and I have mulled over returning to whisk him into this chaos I call home. I still think I should sacrifice for him. I would rather rescue and eat macaroni and cheese for a week than let another one remain lost in the shuffle. The real question is Valentine. I honestly think that since we have expanded our family before, he should be accustomed to the arrival of a new being. That being said, I don’t know if I am ready for another baby. Pip’s endless mischief keeps me weary, but I love him no less. There is such joy to be found in an animal bond. It’s simple and pure. I don’t belive that they love us just for food. Don’t get me wrong, Puck is a walking stomach, but he knows what we feel and empathises wholly. So, do I go back? Do I eat macaroni and cheese? I just don’t know right now.
So the night has come. Plans had to be cancelled, sadly. I understand the need for solace and sleep. So, we will venture to the Bull and Bush with friends after David has finished sculpting his masterpiece “block man” for class. He finds these beginning asisgnments a touch boring, but I think he secretly enjoys the process. He is a creator. That’s just his thing.
I am really horrid at painting my nails. The blue is gone, chipped and worn from a week at a keyboars, so I thought to try a new color called Mischief. Proper name if you ask me. The damn color just kept bubbling and smearing. User error all the way. I am always trying to do too many things at once. So I repainted them a rosy silver. I think that color likes me better
Don’t you feel better knowing my nails are properly painted? I know you do….
