A “Good” Review
Did I forget to mention? October 1st, 2004
It felt like report card day. I hate reviews.
Apparently I am a “good” employee. I have lots of room for improvement, including learning all the programs we use here. But they seem to be pleased with my overall performance. I was expecting someting worse, because at Borders (the only other place I have ever been subjected to this kind of torture) the reviews were heavily unbalanced into the negative. Or, perhaps, it was just me. Far from a model employee, I challened the limits of their policies. Again and again I found myself swimming just at the edge of a final warning, one smart-ass comment from getting the boot. Frankly, you had to get caught stealing to get fired.
So, when I went into his office I carried with me the weight of bad reviews. But his diplomacy quelled the nerves and he let me know that the hurricanes really screwed things up when it came to accuracy. I have been here for almost five months, and two of those have been plagued by storm related workings, not my regular job (for example, yesterday - when I was in dispatch and not at my desk). So, he did his best and was honest with me. I need to take the office by the balls and learn everything I can. No problem! =) I love learning new things. And quite frankly, I like being a know-it-all. So, time to improve, and move on. I have six months before my next review. Let’s hope this one is good.
I also found out I get a raise with this review! Yahoo for money!!
God, I am so glad it’s Friday!
