Cat and Julie are trying to think up a name for a site. This site would be polished, professional with a healthy dose of sass and sarcasm. So, in trying to name this thing (which will feature writing from all three of us, Cat’s photos and art, and other works from other artists) I decided to come up wiht a list of my favorite words.

kalidescope
succulent
virid
cacophony
vroom
translucent
tomorrow
crimson
lunar
mahogany
illuminate
transition

I am sure I will think of more words. Opinions anyone?

Those are some great words but they aren’t grabbing me as an online magazine. Maybe a combination of words?

    Or try an anagram.

I like Vroom, but you’d have to make it ‘vroom vroom’

You are right. The focus is going to be on introspection, examination and reflection. We are going to have a monthly theme, so I think the name should infer change or a journey or something. I need somethign that defines but doesn’t limit…..

I am really digging deep for this, but personally I think it will end up defining the outcome of this little project and I want the outcome to be good.

It’s easy to get caught up in worrying about the site url. The url should be something easy to remember and type in. The actual site title can be anything you want, and can be changed daily if you wish, know what I mean?

A site I have w/a friend came out of that anagram generator. It’s a mix of our first names.

Run your site privately for a while without a name. Build your content. Let the name come organically. People re-visit sites because of content, not URL’s.

And that’s just off the top of my head. I’m at a nonprofit techie conference in Chicago (Brr!) and will be hitting a session or two on site development. Hopefully, I’ll come home with more ideas. I’ve been tasked with developing a site for work.

Anyone have any ideas on how to make an edgy site on homelessness? Me either.

That’s a fantastic idea. I do the same thing with my kids. They pick their own names when they get home so perhaps we need to let this project do the same.

Have fun in the Chicago, Joel!!!! I’m very jealous!

I say the sight should be named after me just because I have such a nice name and you love me… but that is just my opinion :)

I am not naming my site after you! Although “spawn-factory” does have a nice ring to it !!

i like the organic idea, as well…..
