It’s not what you know…it’s who you know!

During class last night I was whining about not being employed. The dwindling funds have brought on a few gray hairs. I started feeling like I was becoming a financial burden on David, but the whole process of applying was shaking my self confidence. So, as I whined a wonderful woman named Joy piped up “My brother is the manager of Maui Jack’s and is looking for a couple people! I will call him on our break and see what’s up.” She called, and he asked that we (my friend Julie was also looking for alternate employment) run over there after class. After a quick interview and some laughter he offered us the job. I start on Monday!! ::: happy dance ::::
I had been to Maui Jack’s once, about a year ago, and was not impressed. However, Steve, the new manager, took over about 8 months ago and is doing his best to drum up business. While I am not a fan of the uniform (khaki pants or shorts, hawaiian shirt, black sneaker, black belt and white socks) I much prefer it to the business wear required in the office setting. He is more than willing to work with my school schedule and is flexible to the changes that will come as it changes from semester to semester. Plus, the money seems decent and since it’s downtown (on Pine Street) we will not only get the night time crowd, but the business lunch crowd also. I am really hopeful and I think this will work out!…..

Wish me luck!

Good thing you did not try to start today… the entire Heritage Square area was closed down by police for the investigation of a strange package left in the park.

Whoa. That would have been an interesting first day….
    What was in the package?
