What was that martini?

Posted on | June 29, 2005 | 10 Comments

It was a party on the sidewalk, in front of 310. Julie beamed happily while sipping on flavorful martini’s. The conversation flowed freely, just like the booze. I got into bed around 1.
I sit here this morning, a little worse for wear, but happy that I spent last night with those people. I had a great time. Frankie, Julie, Chris, D, Jess…everyone showed up to wish Julie a happy 30th. I think it was time well spent.

The Seito Sushi in Baldwin Park is pretty good! We went there last night, and although it was teeming with spawn and their factories, the server was attentive and the food filled quite happily.

Sam Flax doesn’t have cool crap anymore. I used to find the neatest junk there, stuff that had no purpose other than a cute factor. But their selection has become stagnant. Makes me sad.

Mom is flying out the Saturday after the surgery, so that she can help out more during the week when D will be back at work. I’m really glad she is going to be there.

Firefly has been rescheduled for Sunday 2 p.m. @ Frankie’s house. E-mail me to e-mail him for directions. I don’t really remember how to get there. Good thing D always drives! If you want anything to beverage, bring it! Remember, it’s a long weekend, so don’t sweat having to go home early. I think he’s cooking, but I’m not sure….more planning for that later.

I am really tired. I really want a nap. I really like my hair short. I really need more caffiene. I really can’t focus on work. I really miss my family and friends today. I really wanted to stay in bed this morning. I really need to stop using really.

Reflections This is a link from Cat. I like this woman’s work.
Momma wants a brand new bag. Both D and I want new ones actually. I think the cafe bag would suit me quite well. It’s just a thought.

I love the cat at the top of the page….too funny!
I like Laura Vossberg’s work, too….I am not a huge fan of color photog, but there was something spontaneous about some of the shots. specifically the ones that had deliberate elements, like the pedestrian in the mirror and the old man walking past the giant stairs….it was a nice play on the whole reflections concept. i’ve been wanting to do some work with mirrors for a while now….i just need to get off my ass and do it…i also need willing bodies to help me make this possible…i am not one for portraits as is…but body parts are nice (can be nice) and mirrors are helpful in creating illusions….like when you open the medicine cabinet mirror all the way so it reflects into the large bathroom mirror…and you see a repeated pattern of both the mirrors edge and yourself…it is so creepy….i used to do it all the time when i was a kid…does that make me a creepy kid?

anyway, i have had too much chocolate and am rambly…(which isn’t a word, i don’t think) anyway, thanks for posting the link…..

Hi! This is Laura Vossberg, the Reflections photographer. Thank you for looking at my site. I came across your blog when seeing someone searched for my name and photography on msn.

kit cat – nothing in my work is intentional. I did not plan for that man in the mirror to be there or the man walking on the sidewalk. they were happy accidents. I explain my work more in the biography. It’s very interesting to see what other people think of my work. I love hearing your comments.

I just was part of art and soul of south end in charlotte. And will also be a part of Taste of Charlotte June 2-4 on Tryon street downtown.

Thanks again for looking at my site and saying you enjoy my work. that means a lot!:)

    ~Laura
