Meeting Will and What I Wear

Posted on | September 20, 2005 | 7 Comments

My socks were a gift from River and Anne. I don’t know if they got them before or after Will moved back from LA, but they brought out a lot of laughs none the less. I noticed that Anne didn’t sign River’s name. He did it himself. Something about that touched me, and I gifted him with the biggest of my dragons. D gave him all the “Clone Wars” figures he had. We knew that River, being a kid with a huge imagination, would appreciate them more than two stogy old farts. I was anxious to meet Will. I cleaned the house, made sure all the dust bunnies had been wrangled and put in their place. We bought wine and set off into a lovely evening. Anne’s changed much in these past few months and I think that the love between her and Will has a lot to do with it. Also, the removal of a negative force has allowed both her and River to form this amazing bond. That kid loves his mother. But bringing Will into the mix seemed to make things right. She’s aglow. He looks at her adoringly, with no other concern in the world than to make her and River happy. River was watching X-men 2, and just wanted some company for a bit, so Will went inside with him and they hung out on the red couch with Voodoo. He could have stayed outside. He could have told River, “No, it’s adult time.” But he didn’t That speaks volumes to me. It’s really good to see her and River so damn happy. It really makes my heart sing for them. I had hesitated in writing anything about Anne due to the incidents in the Spring. But I realized two things when I spoke with her. Number one – this is my place to do what I will. Number two – she’s happy, and nothing will shatter that.

Will as a person, well, he’s jovial. And very, very tall. The conversation traveled through politics, music (he’s a musician and Anne says he’s great), school…well it went all over the place. He was very comfortable, easy to talk to, and made the night so fun for D and I. When they left D remarked that he never felt uncomfortable, and knew that his observant silences weren’t being misconstrued for snobbery. It was a damn fun evening.

Thanks guys. My socks rock!! I’m wearing one of the new pairs right this minute!

YEAH Anne! Nicholas mentioned River and Erica the other day. I didnt think that he remembered all that, but he does have a mind like a steel trap.

*sniff* Ok so now I am crying…
I had such a nice time out on your porch, just like always. You both are very dear to me and I love you both to death. Thank you for opening up your home to Will, River and I and being the most ever-pleasant hosts. We definately want to do it again soon. The three of us had such a nice evening – it was both relaxing and stimulating at the same time…
I left you a message about Thursday, but if I don’t see you, hopefully we can get together soon.
Hugs and kisses to the both of you!
