Do you own your music?

What’s on that music CD, anyway?

ARRRRRGGGHHH!!! I hate those money-hungry fucktards. This all began when someone (I forgot his name - it’s in the article) discovered that Sony was putting a root-kit on people’s PCs. How crap is that? And if you managed to delete it, I think it negated the use of the cd-drive on your computer. Meaning if you take away their intrusive bug, it would cease the function of the CD-rom drive.

How could they think that was okay? And on top of that, what’s with the new “we are going to license music like we do software” bit. These aren’t programs. Music is art.

All the controls are only going to spawn another route around their overbearing rules. And perhaps we may get some good music out of it.

I won’t ever buy another CD from Sony again.

I think in the long run these corporations will cut their own throats. People will look elsewhere for content. The simple fact is: the empire is crumbling and these corporations will do anything to hold onto that power. The bigger issue in my mind is this: why aren’t there more protections for computer users? Why aren’t corporations or individuals being prosectuted for loading software without your consent? Someone can’t come into your home and add a survellance camera without consent, why is it free game on your computer? The old men in Washington need to wake up and realize that their antiquated laws aren’t doing much for the modern world, or we need to start electing people who understand the challenges, dangers, and frustrations of living and working in a digital world. So vote out the old fucktards and vote in some young people who might make Microsoft answer for their monopoly, make Sony pay for invading someone’s privacy, and make all those ad companies (virus companies) like gator pay for the shit they load on people’s computers. There is an entire legion of companies and corporations taking advantage of the general computer users ignorance and it is revolting.
On the cd issue, I for one have no intention of ever buying a cd again, and this business has just added to that resolve. So in an attempt to squeeze the consumer these music giants are just scaring them away. DRM and copyright protection, in general, has gotten out of control The laws were never intended to protect forever, just long enough so that the originator made a healthy profit from it. Some even say that since the copyright laws have gotten so tight, that art is actually stagnating because one cannot use or build off of other artist’s work.

    You say it, honey!!

My only issue with not purchasing Cds is the sound quality loss. iTunes just doens’t have the depth of sound that my cds do. But I will not support a company that puts malicious code onto someone’s personal property for the sake of piracy protection.

Perhaps they should rework their business model. They are greedy bastards.
