Hurricane Katrina Sucked! I didn’t read about this story until today. Apparently, last week Cheney was strolling about the hurricane ravaged south, looking for a photo-op. This guy let him know what he thought about the recovery!

The Memory Hole This is a great site for trying to find that info that no one wants to use…you know, like the 9-11 transcripts…. that’s how I found it. I was curious (yet again) about how the communications went during the disaster….

50 Great Indie films I know I am ignorant on the whole “what’s cool and indie” thing, but I was pleased to find that there are many on the list I’ve not only seen, but loved. Then again ther are a fair number that I’ve never heard of. I’m just not cool enough…

WTF does that stand for? After writing a short paper for my creative writing class and using DODs (as a shortcut for Department of Defense), well I realized that I have these bloody things drilled into my brain…. I didn’t check to see if they used chat-slang. LOL. TTYL. WWMMD….

Colin Powell Remains Pained By 2003 U.N. Speech Again, late posting on this, but I thougth it relevant.

Sargeworld Remember his show on TechTV?? Man… I miss that channel. (G4 is not the same thing, I don’t care what you think).

The Phrontistery I love word sites, and this one specializes in obscure words. I loooooooooooove this stuff. Makes me sound all edumacationed n stuffs.

Make your blog better!

I heart Firefox. I use it at work and as the alternate browser on my Powerbook. It’s so nice and happy and stuff. Mmmm…firefox.

I am going to see this!! And I will probably cheeze out and get toys for it too… if they offer any. I think Burton’s smart enough to market this to us collectors of crap. Man, I’m a toy-junkie!

The World’s Strongest beer!! Uhm, okay. Two things: Why, and I bet it tastes like shite!

RIAA Radar I was pleased to find that some of my favorite artists are not on this list….but of course all the commercial crap I listen to is…. not shocking at all.

Okay - I REALLY need to get to work now… know that the mood is good, I think I am going to ride the trainer tonight. D is a superstar, and it’s finally Wednesday!! YAY!!

Saving their pets.
I read a horrid story about a vet gassing pets en mass because the owners didn’t want the creatures to suffer. Part of me understands the desire to keep the fuzzies of the family without pain, but I cannot imagine my life without our boys.

Noah’s Wish
, the rescue organization mentioned above, has done an amazing job. There is a Hurricane Katrina button on the first page that gives you an idea of the conditions they are working in and how you can help. Much has been said of the human toll, now someone help the creatures.

I am stuck at a co-worker’s desk today so I don’t have the time to really write, but here’s stuff for you!

Google vs C-net I heard about this through TWIT, one of the podcasts I subscribe to. I thought it was interesting and wondered how pervasive this practice is. Imagine Microsoft getting pissed at the NYT and never allowing them any further interviews.

Dumbledore Is Not Dead! I’m offically a nerd. And D and I looked at the toys last night. We are sooooooooooooooo addicted.

The creatures in my head are really fucking adorable!! I want their toys. Love them…. I have the widget too! Yay me!

Feed your garden! I need to get to work and stop playing with these links….

Okay just one more: MacGyver Online: Background Bible I adored this show when I was a kid. And I’ve seen an episode here and there since, and I STILL like it. It must be the mullett.

And I am still pushing Serenity ! You must see this movie!! We looooove this show. Love it! Must see this movie!!! Must! Must! Must!

And this will come in handy when you need primary sources for school!!! Take a look!

Honey, if you want to take us on a cruise…here’s one that right up our alley!!

And if you are feeling left out with the whole widget thing because you have a PC…there here!!!

okay…time to go back to work!

Share Your Home

There are a lot of people who need help with housing right now. This website is helping to put together people who have space, and those that need shelter. If you can help out, contact this site!!

Please repost!

Also, if you have a bicycle - ride it to work or to do your errands instead of driving your car. Then take that gas money and donate it to the Red Cross or some other charity. You will find that not only do you feel better throughout your workday because you’ve moved your body, your soul will feel better for giving to those that need it most (and that would NOT be the oil companies!!

Blessed Be!

I posted that on my myspace acct. If you have access to other forums please, repost it (you can take off the Blessed Be if you wish!) … Thanks oodles

Devastation from above

This is amazing imagery showing the flooding. It’s just so crazy that the levees were able to hold back that much water. Anyway, pan and scan through the image so you get a sense of what’s going on.

No one can say they didn’t see it coming”

D pointed out this article to me. Seems that our fearless leader once again has his priorities all fucked up. But, perhaps he will have learned his lesson. The money spent on the “war” needs to be rechanneled back into this country, specifically the South.

It just makes me sad. I’m overwhelmed with despair over this situation…. If you can, donate blood!!! They will need it, and cash to the Red Cross.

I wanted to take up a collection of clothes for the victims, but I don’t even know where to start…

So, Julie and I rode our bikes to school last night. Not a very tough ride, but it made me feel all happy none the less. The only drawback is the prodigous ammount of sweat we suffered through. I brought a change of pants (my sexxxxy bike shorts just don’t cut it for class) and baby-wipes (good for all occasions) and deoderant. I was pretty set by the time we got into class, although I passed on my usual cup of coffee until after the class break. Class was….well….class. I’m now an offical smartass with Levis. He finally remembered who I was. He was confused by the lack of hair (I guess it does make me look different!).

So, my grand plans to ride this morning were wiped out by exhaustion. I slept in till 6:15 and then popped out of bed and got ready for work. It’s quite sad to think that I used to go to bed at that hour…but I digress. So, I will probably ride my trainer tonight, and then ride to work on Friday. Thursday is my long day, work at 6:30 and class till 9:30…looooooooooooong day. And Friday I will ride to work in the morning. Yay for movin my ass.

All this coffee isn’t working. Blech.

So without further ado: Links!

iTunes phone! D and I were talking about this last night. There was also a roumer about a better iPod. Ooooh I love techy toys and I absolutly hate my phone, so…….new PHONE time! (and new bag time, and new pants time, and new books time… I hate being such a consumer!)

I saw this… and all I could say was WOW!! Tali, this is soooo up your alley (and it’s a dark, scary, fanboy alley!)

Wear your computer problems on your chest! Personally, I like the file not found…but that’s just me. I love fun t-shirts. I suppose that I have swan-dived into geekdom with liking these shirts??

Girly shopping. I like to deny that I’m truly a female, but I do have these overwhelming urges to shop every now and again. Usually I can satisfy them with a run to Target (I’ve been so good lately, only spending 25 bucks the last time we went!! YAY ME!) but sometimes I delve into the darker expanses of my genetic drive for shopping. So, instead of torturing D, I shop online……

Conserve Gas!! The Bush says so! It makes sense that there could and probably will be a shortage soon. Katrina fuuuuucked up our oil production. I hope that everyone that has an SUV really enjoys paying out the nose for it! I am going to ride my bike, and that’s all there is to that. I can burn my fat rather than spewing fumes.

Possible brownouts for Florida!
It’s voluntary, for now.

So, now that the coffee has finally kicked in, I shall work.
But, I wish I was home taking a nap!!

Take a gander at the trailer for Memoirs of a Geisha…But this is the Japanese trailer. There’s still no real site up for the american version.

I am going to use the info on this site to make me some sushi!! I love cooking at home, and find the experience of creating and then consuming my works of culinary art most enjoyable. And, I am fucking cheap, and get all pissy when I spend money on sub-standard cooking!

Good news for the Amazon!
I wish that the rest of the world could get reactive, and understand that what we do the our Earth effects how we are to live with Her later…. But it’s a start.

Cruisin in a green car. I’m an advocate of that old fashioned type of transportation, it’s called walking. I don’t think that you can see and feel the nature of a place, especially a new place, without getting intimate with it’s crooks and crevices. I like the idea of these little cars, though. It would allow some who cannot do all that walking to explore places once off-limits to them. And, after hoofin’ it all over Chicago, sometimes the toes just need a break. It’s cute, and slow… I think I want one!

Starbucks getting all risque and shit! I am really waiting for the peace, love and happiness Christians to tell these morons to stuff it. Worry about poverty, the enviornment, not who someone chooses to boink! … (but I scream this all the time…it’s getting old) Anyway, Bravo to Starbucks for this!

The space between release and release!
I hope it gets shorter, especially for those films I loved (like Kingdom of Heaven!)

Winter Park pays attention to architecture!
About bloody time. Why does everyone sound so complacent about the destruction of architecturally important buildings? Makes me want to scream.

On that note…it’s work time!

I like the semicolon t-shirt Some of these are damn funny! I also like the apostrophe!

We picked up HBO again for this show. I did the same thing when Band of Brothers came out. There will get a point where I get tired of the additional 15 channels with nothing on, meanwhile, I am pretty excited about this show.

Wifi buses in Orlando? This is an awfully forward thinking move for Orlando, still, I don’t think I will be making this a ride for me. It takes too fucking long to get from place to place with just buses.

Play with bubble wrap!

Do you like my penne? This is close to how I cook it, although I used crushed tomatoes instead of chopped. I don’t like the tomato texture!

Vendetta delayed? I like the idea of Natalie Portman with a shaved head. Still don’t know what I think about the whole masked hero-thingy. Blech.

A cute site for Tali!
I love puppies.

Where did your missing sock go? This site should answer your every-burning questions about the locale of the missing socks.

Libraries with no books? Make it digital, bitches! I linked to a site months ago that was digitizing the classics (which helped me out a lot when it came to taking tests for Brit Lit!) I like the idea of bringing literature online, but I am a sucker for falling alseep reading, and that’s just not as comfy with a laptop in your face!

Gorillaz in concert!
I got my hopes up, then they were dashed!! ::: sob ::

Sing me a song, your’re the Piano Man! I felt bad for this guy when I first read about him some months ago. I hope he travels home and finds some kind of peace.

I am way tired. Damn this whole getting up early in the morning, thing!

Xbox pricing. Uhm….ouch. Of course I want the one that hurts the most!

10 movies to look forward to! There are a few I knew nothing about, but Harry’s here, so is Rent and V for Vendetta. It could be a nice fall season for movies!

Flirting goes high tech! There’s always a way around rules…even religious ones!

iPod and MS Wow…uhm. Oops, Apple made a boo boo.

We are counting down the hours till Chicago. Is it 2 yet?? hehehe

Harry Potter!!
Look at 8/12 - a sneak peek at the movie! You need Quicktime… this was on of the links I intended to show earlier before my site took a shit. Bad site! Good Potter!

It’s a Monday

It’s a Monday. But I am looking forward to Wednesday, when I will be taking a quick flight to Chicago to see Tali!! :: happy dance ::: I know I will miss D, but I am sure he can survive without me for a weekend. After all, he has to finish reading the third Harry Potter so that we can see the movie.

Tomorrow, Sin City comes out. I am so jazzed!! We are going to have a couple people over for a mid-week dinner and movie thing. I was blown away by both the graphic novel and the film. And for what it was, a film made by a lover of the comics and the comic writer himself, I think it creatively blew away pretty much everything we have seen since. The visuals are uncompromising. And I look forward to watching it with a few who’ve not seen it, and with my Snoogs, who played hooky with me to see it early!

Frankie and Chris were kind enough to allow me to snake some music, so I’ve spent the morning jamming out to Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. Man, I love music. And the new Deep Dish record makes me bounce in my seat!

So, I shall share some links this morning, work later this afternoon, head home and pack.

Bauhaus back together…. I wish we could have gone to Cochella to see them, but at least something good came out of it! I wonder what they will sound like. Hmmm…

More Batman I am so not interested in watching Katie Holmes stumble through another movie, but to see Christian Bale I will excuse it.

Santana shoes! I just thought it was amusing that Carlos Santana was designing shoes. The only ones I am remotely interested in are still a far cry from my clunky-shoe comfort zone.

This sounds delish! Well…except for the cranberries!

Do my breats offend??
Wow…uhm. I just don’t have anything more to say about this!

Your wallpaper should be more than just a plain image. It should stirr the mind, damnit!

Holy shit!! This site had me snorting out out!

Okay, I think that’s enough for one day. Have a lovely day!
