I don’t know much about the story. It looks interesting? Maybe? Perhaps?…. eh… I dunno.
Friday night - 8:30 p.m. - bring booze and a snack - we are watching Constantine and eating fondue. It makes sense, really it does. Hell. Fire. Fondue! So, come one, come all.
We watched Frida last night. I caught bits of it on one of the indie film channels, but I wanted to see the whole thing. I loved this film. Salma Hayek playes the tortured artist with grace and depth. The whole cast is quite well done, although I thought Ashley Judd trying to play with an Italian accent was a little hard to swallow. The struggle between Frida and her husband Deigo Rivera played out with both tenderness and bitterness. I don’t think I finished the film understanding why she put up with his philandering ways (although she was just promiscuous). I am interested in reading her biography and finding out more about her. I think I will take a short jaunt down to Winter Park to check out the bio and see if it’s worthwhile.
In other news. They fixed our drain last night. The kitchen drain broke on Saturday afternoon, so we couldn’t use the kitchen sink. It was problematic, but we made it through. It was nice to be able to use the sink properly again.
I’m almost done with Psychonauts. This last level is making me tear my hair out! And I think they fukt me on the save system, which could lead to my blowing up the PS2, but we will see if it’s as bad as I think it is.
My surgery is a week from Friday. Joy.
Mom flies in on the 3rd. She leaves on the 10th. Seven days of Momma’s love…happiness. =)
I ran this morning and got a wicked blister that tore open. It’s mighty painful. So, today at work I am wearing socks and flip flops (I can’t have anything rubbing on the back of my foot) and I must say that I am mad fashionable. Look at me rockin the sexy socks!! Woo hoo (end caffinated explosion).
Do no drink beverages while reading this. You may end up snorting your coffee!
Thanks Tali!
The madness of King George Do you know who he was? If you do, do you know why he was mad? This article sheds some light on his lunacy.
Drunken pilots get jail Wow….they say drinking and driving is bad. But drinking and flying?? If you are going play with people’s lives like that - you deserve what you get.
The oddities in Orlando are subject of articles across the country, including those in Seattle. It is a heartwarming little blurb about a woman that live on Orlando International Airport’s property.
It’s a secret. No it’s not….its’ uhm… Even if her name was not revealed maliciously, it was a huge misstep on the part of the current administration. Heads should roll regardless of intent.
O’Connor thinks we have reason to worry. So do I !
And this morning I’ve listened to:
The Supreme Beings of Leisure
Sasha
And Talvin Singh .
Encyclopedia Mythica
I looked through this a bit, and found lots of interesting information. It’s REALLY extensive. A good site if you like that kind of thing like I do.
Buying a condo downtown? You may want to make sure that your fire sprinkler system is up to code. You may also want to cirumvent local government to find out the truth behind the safety of your building. … D and I walked around downtown for the first time in ages, and it’s hard to believe that all this condo-stuff could be as safe as it should be. They are slapping up condos quicker than you can spit. I know city government is quite eager to bring more money into the coffers, but I would hate to see it happen at the expense of safety (I know, I don’t like the type of people that live down there, but even assholes deserve to be safe….)
The world’s coolest keyboard. I stole this from Frankie, who has found a gem. I love toys. I really love geeky toys!
Pits on the run! This pisses me off. Why can’t people understand that if a dog is raised to be a bastard, then he will react in the expected way. Instead of blaming breeds, blame the fucking irresponsible owners. It makes me physically sick to think that 260 pits have been put down because of this law. The most ferocious dog I ever met was a fucking Taco-bell dog! Okay, so it was only my toe that got mauled by the fucker, but all dogs, even beagles, can turn bad if they are mistreated. Blame the result of the problem, not the problem itself. Yeah, smart. Next they will outlaw all dogs, cats and aggressive squirrels in the Denver area. Fuckers.
Scotty’s going back to space. I can’t think of a better way to be buried if you were on Star Trek. May he RIP while floating about the galaxy.
Damn, that sucks!! Getting pinched for an expired tag?? Stupid!
Dear Pot-smugglers, please remember to have the proper id and registration for any vehicle you are using for transport. Remember to check all lights, make sure that your turn signals work, and don’t have overly tinted windows. Make yourself unseen in your banality. Then you can give it to the Man. Thanks, a Former Pot-smoker.
Okay.. I really have to get back to work now….really…. no I do !!
Old Weight Watcher’s cards inspire horror! The sarcasm in each observant description is priceless. Fun to read, although I wouldn’t recommend trying these at home…eww.
okay. now to work I go!
Lots of links today….why? Because I’m fucking cheerful!
Know more about your world! Did you know that Austria was once a part of Bavaria (in Germany, for those of you who didn’t know) and that Liechtenstein only has a population of 33,500 people. This is a great site for overall info. Delve deeper and you will find cool holidays they celbrate and recipes for each country.
It starts again on FRIDAY!!
I have a huge hard-on for this show. I read somewhere where they said it was more West Wing than Soap Opera, but I think it has elements of both that really tickle everyone’s pickle. And Starbuck is just delicious!
Do you think they could have predicted our world today? See how close they were.
Lobotomy - back in the social concious after 30 years. Did you know that the Nobel Prize for Medicine was awared to a neurologist in 1949 by the name of Egas Moniz who operated on people with severe psychological illnesses, perfecting the lobotomy. There is now an uproar over his award and many people feel that it was a mistake, that the award should be taken away.
Let’s put the blame where it’s due. All I can say is Wow….and I hope his Christian ass burns in hell for these comments. I am sure I can find plenty of deviants in his conservative world. I bet some were serial killers….fucker.
Doggies don’t want to be out all day! I think this is a good step, although I wish that there was a law where people were forced to take full responsbility for their animals, rather than a law that acts as a band-aid on the issue. But, it’s something. And if it keeps dogs out of the heat, and out of danger, then it works for me.
Why you would see the Dukes of Hazzard to begin with, I don’t know. But even a former actor of the show has objections to the movie.
I have more links, but I really need to get back to work now!
I have a facination with puzzle-mazes! So, I shall be playing here while I am supposed to be working!!
A couple Harry Potter links for you freaks !! (Julie, remember the books on Sunday!) Buy an eco-friendly Potter! Science and magic merge in the Potter world.
Day 3 of running in the a.m. before work. I think my body realized this morning that I am getting up earlier than normal. The beagles also know that this is a routine, and so they spin and bounce until we put their leashes on. I like this process, but I really exhausted.
I am going to vote for Firefly this weekend @ Frankie’s casa. Pick a date. Sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepy.
Being that I am too lazy for writing I am going to post links.
Do you know what Etymology is?
For fun, I did a google search for moody cats. This was one of the entries!! I found myself giggling…
Abused shopping carts. What else is there to say, really?
Cute shirts. I am always window (or is that monitor) shopping. I have a think for funky shoes and bags and t-shirts. Not terribly glamorous, but fun none the less.
Speaking of shopping! Ecochoices!
That’s all for now. I must put forth my full effort to drooling on my keyboard in such a manner that no one notices here for a bit. That may allow me to take a nap (which is obscene considering the time. It’s not even 9 a.m. yet!)
Happy day. Think of Psychonauts if you get blue…they make me smile. And Tali - I killed the monster in the lake!! (only she would understand the fact that I had to get off the phone to kill a monster in a video game…… I love that!)
I figure you have wandered through the links on the right side of my site. I don’t have many, but there are a few. The ones I check daily are under the “People” header, and I realized today (after adding a new person) that you all may not know each other. So, here are the introductions:
A Daily Dose of David - if you don’t know who David L. McEachern is by now, you are fired. D’s site is commentary on his life, beliefs, rants on the political structure of this country, and art. The primary purpose is to showcase his talent, to reveal to you all how much he fucking rocks!! I don’t know that he would put it that way, but I am his biggest fan. So, go there, make lots of nice comments, and don’t piss him off! Or I am coming to get you!! *queue evil laughter*
Next, we have our new addition and the reason for this post! I didn’t know what the exact title was for Taylor’s blog, so I named it Blue Weasel after his e-mail addy. Taylor is a fine young man, and Tali’s sex slave…uhm.. I mean boyfriend. His is a new blog, so you are there to watch the birth of a great site. Although, Taylor, modify the colors! These poor eyes of mine strain….so. Yeah. Hi Taylor! ( and purple is not even remotely related to pink!)
I labeled Doug’s Site as…well… Doug’s Site, but I thought it appropriate at the time. Doug is a zany artist and friend. Do you like things that float on invisible wire? Do you like paperbag mushrooms?? Of course you do! Go to his site, buy everything, and support local art!
Then there is my fellow nerd-machine Tali. She is by far one of the most facinating people I know. She is also a lover of all things geek and gets as much of a kick out of silly stuff as I do. She moved to Chicago a few months ago, much to my dismay. Read all about her explorations through her new world. I admit that I am green with jealousy. I want to live in a real city too!! :: sob::
Shana is an old friend of mine from Miami. This is her Tori Amos tribute site. If you like Tori, Shana has compiled oodles of info on her. I think it’s a pretty site!
David July (he is the other David in my life) has been a friend of mine for years. Here are his observations on life, and the world around him. Mt. Sutro is a tower in San Fran. You will always read interesting things about his travels on his site.
Soozin is another one of my oldest friends. She’s a wicked DJ, a loving humanitarian, and a brilliant person. I think she deserves the Nobel Peace prize for putting up with my shit for over almost 10 years. Not only is she a DJ, but she is also get her PHD…yes, she is the world’s coolest human. I love this girl dearly….
And then there is the Dogfather!! He is the keeper of all the fuzzies when D and I travel. He is also a very kind and gentle soul…and a geek!
And finally, the site that everyone needs to link to!! The Woods Inn! Six years ago my parents’ dreamt of Colorado and all her possibilities. Today they own this B&B and deal with the day to day struggles and rewards that come with owning their own business. I have always wanted them to suceed at this, so I’ve done my best to spread the word. They are dog-friendly, my Papa-san makes a wicked breakfast, and their prices are more than reasonable. If you ever have a reason to ski in Colorado - look them up. Now link to them bitches!!!
So…those were my introductions. You may continue with your day.
Stormy Cloud is amazing. I just thought I would share.
I really like this disk as a whole. But that song just popped me out of my drudgery and made me smile. Maybe it will do the same for you.
New Leonardo picture discovered
We studied this painting in our Renaissance class. I remembered liking the version that the church rejected more than the one that they accepted.
Part of me wishes they could extrac the image below so we can see what he did, but it would have to be in such a was so as not to damage the top image. Not going to happen.
I have to work on time sheets this morning, so I don’t have a ton of time to write about my exciting life. You know, the one where I plant my ass on my lovely red couch and play video games until I scream because I can’t get past this one level in Jak 3 and it is going to drive me to the brink of madness and beyond but not before I go gray and scream so loudly at the television that I frighten the neighbors. Yeah, so that was my night last night!
Women gamers! We are a force to be reckoned with. We have money. We have time. We have a desire. I think if the video game companies made smarter games, games with more of a sense of humor, they would tap into a market much ignored. Pay attention video game companies!! There are those of us, women in our late 20’s, who love games as much as the guys do! (sometimes even more!)
Speaking of video games! Here is a new one that tickles my fancy.
What can you do with Ramen? A lot of stuff, apparently. I remember my hate affair with this evil food. It was the only that sustained me for a few years, but I can’t eat the stuff now. I have thought about trying it again, for old time’s sake, but I think I have become too much of a food snob. That, and I like for my food to have some kind of nutrition. Bravo! to those folks that are trying to stretch the limits of Ramen.
Mole, Mole, Mole! This is making me want to go to my favorite mexican place. Hmmm…perhaps that is what we shall have for dinner ! =)
There was a time when I wanted my bathroom swimming with Devil Ducks. I think it was the shower curtain Tali and I saw at that one store in that one mall. This could satisfy that need in me!
Tali’s pics of Chicago made me long for info about transit systems. NYC is well known for their subways. And this site is quite revealing!
To get a deal on a flight and hotel package all you have to do is research a bit. It’s amazing that these kinds of bargains exist. Perhaps I can find something for Seattle…..I hope I hope I hope!
This is where my parents live. It’s not a terribly attractive site, but it has a calender of some of the events going on. The BBQ thing brought a lot of people into town, and shut down Main Street (which isn’t a huge feat. I think there are 2 stop lights on Main). Sometimes I like the idea of living in a small town. There’s an intimacy, a sense of community lost in bigger places. Then again, everyone knows everyone else’s business! Okay. I will stick to bigger places.
That is all for now. Have a lovely Friday!
It was a party on the sidewalk, in front of 310. Julie beamed happily while sipping on flavorful martini’s. The conversation flowed freely, just like the booze. I got into bed around 1.
I sit here this morning, a little worse for wear, but happy that I spent last night with those people. I had a great time. Frankie, Julie, Chris, D, Jess…everyone showed up to wish Julie a happy 30th. I think it was time well spent.
The Seito Sushi in Baldwin Park is pretty good! We went there last night, and although it was teeming with spawn and their factories, the server was attentive and the food filled quite happily.
Sam Flax doesn’t have cool crap anymore. I used to find the neatest junk there, stuff that had no purpose other than a cute factor. But their selection has become stagnant. Makes me sad.
Mom is flying out the Saturday after the surgery, so that she can help out more during the week when D will be back at work. I’m really glad she is going to be there.
Firefly has been rescheduled for Sunday 2 p.m. @ Frankie’s house. E-mail me to e-mail him for directions. I don’t really remember how to get there. Good thing D always drives! If you want anything to beverage, bring it! Remember, it’s a long weekend, so don’t sweat having to go home early. I think he’s cooking, but I’m not sure….more planning for that later.
I am really tired. I really want a nap. I really like my hair short. I really need more caffiene. I really can’t focus on work. I really miss my family and friends today. I really wanted to stay in bed this morning. I really need to stop using really.
Links for your viewing pleasure!
Paper Airplanes
Reflections This is a link from Cat. I like this woman’s work.
Momma wants a brand new bag. Both D and I want new ones actually. I think the cafe bag would suit me quite well. It’s just a thought.
King Kong
TV network for gays and lesbians! I wonder if they will broadcast here in the conservative south? I like the concept though. I would watch!
Tigger: now quiet. I think that his voice was as much a part of the character as his animated (bouncy) form. I still say TTFN thanks to him!
Commandments and courtrooms don’t mix. I wonder if anyone would bitch too much if I painted a big pentacle on the federal courthouse. There’s a reason for the seperation of church and state, and not being Christian, it would not make me feel terribly at ease to walk past the 10 commandments on my way to a court hearing. Is that really respecting all religions; this strange desire to post Christ’s rules in government areas?
DVD Easter Eggs I love secrets!
Why is that moon so big? It’s an interesting thought, the perspective of a moonrise. I’ve always watched the moon with a special kind of reverance. She’s the lesser-loved of our celestial orbs….but I love her the most.
Sesame Street is saved! Please explain to me why we can spend billions on military spending, but the House thinks that 100 mil for public broadcasting is just too much? Personally, I think that enriching minds is more important than blowing the minds up with cowardly weapons.
I love it when Nature rebounds! I should take a trip there, and bring my hardhat…hehehe…beward of bird poop!
I think it would be tons of fun if I could bring Puck and Pip to work. They would have a blast, and more importantly, they would be doing something different! I wish I worked in an enviornment where dogs were more welcome…..
Strange dream: We were traveling to a house in the country on a steam train. The country was the land I lived on in Egenburg, Germany, but instead of the earth-colored buildings very sparsly placed, the town were arrived in was made of huge, and I mean huge, rust-colored barns with one small house. I’ve had a facination with dying barns all of my life. I used to wish that Mom would drive slower when we rode through the countryside in Alabama or North Carolina so I could take in the waning beauty of those buildings. The train pulled into the station, and I hopped off with a green suitcase in tow. It was one of those 70’s pea green contraptions, scratched up and scarred with a thick plastic nametag hanging off the faux-leather handle. The suitcase and I went into the biggest barn (the size of a BIG airplane hangar) and put the suitcase on a bale of hay. The inside of the barn was dark and cool, with light piercing the knotholes and irregularities of the wood. Bales of hay littered the edges of the big door for the barn, but it was so dark that I couldn’t see to the other end. I heard birds shaking out their feathers, disturbed by my presence. It was time to move on.
Outside, I found myself overwhelmed by a lovely sight, and I realized just then that I didn’t have my camera on me. The sun started to set, and the light on the red barns glowed with a spectacular richness. You could feel their history in that moment, understand their tenacious nature, their will to stand against the elements. The buildings seemed to vibrate with warmth against the cool icy blue of the sky, and I felt my self being swallowed by sadness and rage because I didn’t have my camera. I fell to the floor sobbing, screaming for what seemed like hours, and then I rose. The moment had passed and the magic of those barns all aglow was lost.
I then walked to the only little house in this town of barns. Outside I could hear a roaring. The perfect tornado roared across a hill, not too far off in the distance. I found my camera (it was in my pocket the whole time) and remarked to an older version of David (I don’t know why I knew he was older, but he was) that I was one of those stupid people who had to take pictures of storms. He laughed. I realized the tornado threatened the house I was in so I ran to the nearest room (sparsley furnished, the house had the feel of an old-folks home with lots of pastel blankets and lace curtains. I ducked into a closet clutching my camera. When I got out of the closet I ran to the nearest window and watched the tornado skip and leap upon a thick forest, never penetrating the tree-tops.
Dreams are wierd.
As I drove to work this morning, I noticed a cop tailing me. The whole time he rode behind me he had his spotlight on. I wasn’t speeding any more than I usually did (meaning I was going 80ish) but the cop kept right on my ass, as I changed lanes, and as I got off I4 on John Young. Still behind me, he crept closer to my bumper, shining that damn light in my eyes. I made a left on John Young. The light at 35th was red, and I saw the copper get into the left turning lane. Parallel with me I scowled in his direction. But he wasn’t paying any attention to me. No, he was stuffing his face with a McDonald’s breakfast sandwich. Fucking figures!
So, D surprised me and bought me tickets to go to Chicago in August. I am soooooooooooooo psyched! So I am heading out on August 17th and I get back to Orlando on the 21st, just in time for school. YAY!!
And now, your travels through the world wide web:
Alan Cumming and Xmen = no go. This makes me quite sad. I really enjoyed him as the shy blue beast!
Okay, another dog site But it’s got really cute dogs. I know I am not allowed to have anymore, but sometimes I can’t help looking.
Cops and drugs?!?! Say it isn’t so!
No love for Firefox.
Now have a loverly day!!
