From WFTV

A Rollins College student who said she was raped on campus could soon face charges herself.

For about a month, many female students living and going to school at the Rollins College campus have been living in fear. It all started when a female student told campus security and police that two men sexually assaulted her in a bathroom at Cornell Hall.

Today, police learned that it was all a lie. When the report surfaced, back in November, it launched an investigation into the allegations. The probe ended up costing police and the FDLE more than $50,000.

The Rollins College student body was so moved by the reported incident that it held a candlelight vigil in honor of the women during sexual assault awareness week on campus.

Police say they are relieved that the rape did not actually occur, but now they hope to charge this still unnamed student with filing a false police report.

They say that they just got the forensic evidence processed from what they call a rape kit. The results of the medical exam indicated that the woman had definitely not been raped. When confronted with that information, investigators say that the woman told truth.

Many suspect that the woman made these claims to get attention.

Police became suspicious when the woman could not help them with a composite sketch, and after that she said that she didn’t want to press charges.

Law enforcement continued because it felt obligated to conduct an investigation to ensure the safety of the students on campus

That he got a new position in a new department. Meaning, the bad apple will get stuck in someone else’s pie and I can remain a person who doesn’t celebrate early morning in peace. This is one time where I hope the rumor is true.

Do you know what my problem is? I’m not a morning person. I know that he dug deep, looking for things on me, but beyond my overwhemling workload and my “not being a morning person” thing, he didn’t have shit on me. And I knew he wouldn’t. I came in with solutions to my problem (the workload, not his slimy search for something sinister) and all he had to say was “oh.” Fuck you buddy. Will post more when I get home.

Dec. 6, 2004 | SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Clear Channel Communications Inc., the nation’s largest radio station operator, has picked Fox News Radio to be the primary source of national news for most of its news and talk stations, officials announced Monday.

The five-year agreement initially covers more than 100 radio stations.

Fox will provide a five-minute top-of-the-hour newscast, a nightly news broadcast, and around-the-clock dedicated national news coverage. In return, Fox News Radio will have access to news produced by San Antonio-based Clear Channel’s news network.

No terms of the deal were disclosed. But Fox, a unit of News Corp., says if all options in the agreement are exercised, its radio service could have more than 500 affiliates by the middle of next year.

“Working this closely with a premiere national news provider for the majority of our news/talk stations makes overwhelming sense,” said John Hogan, chief executive officer of Clear Channel Radio. “Because of the breadth of this relationship, our local news directors will get a more customized and higher quality national news product — and that’s great for listeners.”

“This deal positions Fox News to become a significant player in the radio industry and is another example of our commitment to the medium,” said Roger Ailes, Fox News chairman and CEO.

Clear Channel, which operates 1,200 stations, has been getting its national news feeds from a variety of providers.

Shares in Clear Channel, slipped 8 cents, or 0.2 percent, to $33.07 in midday trading Monday on the New York Stock Exchange — toward the low end of their 52-week trading range of $29.96 to $47.76.

Shares of News Corp. rose 1 cent, or 0.1 percent, to $18.18 on the NYSE. The stock has traded between $17.16 and $39.74 in the past 52 weeks.

Blade 3
icon1 Meow | icon2 Review | icon4 12 3rd, 2004| icon32 Comments »

Understand, I am a fan of the Blade movies. I thought the opening of the original was brilliant, the music perfect. Although the ending cheezed out (in a huge way), the idea remained solid.
The second brought an intimacy to Blade and Whistler’s relationship, which I find terribly interesting. The vampires were nummy, plus Ron Pearlman makes me fucking laugh. They were fun films with a dark sense of humor with lots of action and nice eye candy.

This final installment doens’t veer off the course plotted by the first two films. Set in random dark city, most of the action is over the top, and the characters are great. Hannibal King steals the show, and paired up with Danica (I think that’s how you spell it) - those scenes were just fucking classic. Abagail, while nice to look at, seemed like kind of a flat character. Whistler doesn’t get the zinger lines like he did in the first two, but his appearance in the movie is abbreviated. The concept is interesting (to kill the vampires with a virus), but there are moments in the film that are wasted, - like the blood farm.

Taken for what it is, a fun, action flick, I was pretty happy. Then again, I am easily amused.
